Additional points on Maria Spencer

Preliminary discussion/comments on Maria Maloney Page

General

These are general comments and I hope to be able to expand on them later, when I get a bit more time.

I found reading the account extremely heavy going and wouldn't have commented if I hadn't had some additional data which seemed to me to be important and I have it in sketch here intending to later make a more professional job of it.

I wondered how it could be made more readable, which seemed very necessary to me. The only answer I've come up with is as follows: Make a brief summary of each section with a link to the section.

SO 1 line

Maria refers fairly often to letters from Ron. This was known in the org as SO 1 line. SO stands for "Standing Order". According to the first edition of the Green volumes volume 1 page 42: "All mail addressed to me shall be received by me".

I can't see any reference to the SO 1 line in Scientolipedia. As Franchise Secretary at St Hill all letters from Franchise Holders to Ron came to me. Otherwise they went to the nearest org's HCO secretary. I hope to expand on this later if nobody else has done so.

I was also at St Hill when Ron and Mary Sue went on a three-month approximately holiday and the rubberstamp signature was introduced.

Later I will later write up what I know about it in Scientolipedia.

Danger condition Tech Services and Mimeo

I first came across Maria at St Hill when she was Tech Page. A little later she became Director of Tech Services and I was Mimeo. I had taken over Mimeo after being comm eved. It was a mess, the previous occupant(s) had failed to refile stencils having run copies off. There were 10 large metal chests of stencils (going back to the very early days of Scientology)

As a result of this the Briefing Course students were not able to get all the issues which they were supposed to be checked out on, and they were being passed off the course with items on the checksheet saying "not available".

The LRH communicator (in division VII) declared both me (Mimeo, Division II) and Maria (Director of Tech Services, Division III) in danger.

Blowing AOSH DK/EU (DEI)

In June 1983 I was thrown out of Scientology (the official place) and was in touch with some other people who were "not on friendly terms with the church". We heard that Maria had left (= blown) AOSH with a daughter, penniless we believed and had been befriended by other FriScientologists and was working for a firm they ran north of Copenhagen which was named Hiltex. She had been working for the org, we were told, as a roving registrar and had the records/addresses for Scientologists in 2 or 3 countries (I think Germany France and England, but I'm not sure) these were sent information packets about the Free Zone / FriScientology.

We didn't have the addresses for people in Scandinavia, so some friends collected together some addresses and sent them information packets about FriScientology (we called it the split - splitelsen, if I remember rightly). We called ourselves DEI (Det Europæiske Informations Center). DEI also had a list of 40 terminals worldwide, received articles and news of them and copied and send them out to those 40 people.

Maria's Participation in Ron's org

It appears that Maria played a very important part in Ron's org. An obituary should include some reference to that. (But I'm entirely ignorant of it)

All best wishes,

Ant
