Ant's response to the award

To Dave 28th Feb 2015.

Dear Dave, Thanks for your award,

There are a couple of points I would like to mention. With regard to being a lively octogenarian, this would never have happened if I had not come into Scientology, for my guess is that without Scientology coming into my life I would have died a rather miserable death before I was 50 (but who knows?). When I left org staff the last time (about 1972) I was fortunate to be introduced by a Scientologists (now dead) to running, and for a period I maintained the ability to run 10 kms non-stop. There were also other efforts with regard to diet and health and cycling (which I still do) based on the intention to remain healthy. It did not "just happen as a gift from the gods"

With regard to Computer work you should remember that I typeset Scientology 0-8 in about 1969 electronically and in about 1989 the fate of the Danish magazine Uafhængige Synspunkter depended on me learning desktop (electronic) publishing fast and I continued "programming" 5 magazines a year until 2008 (there was help from others - thanks to the group spirit!). I have seen how others struggled with computers - it is not easy. It probably is true that all can be achieved on an appropriate gradient, but such a gradient is not easy to find in computer work and is individual.

All best wishes,

Ant

Thanks for posting this, Dave. Something has just happened relevant to the group effort creating an Encyclopedia of Scientology. See: http://scientolipedia.org/info/Alphia_Hart .

I have just added the paragraphs headed "Hart goes Boom". It is something I remember from getting the magazine, presumably in 1955. However, I have lost all my Abilities (I mean the magazine :-) ). I did have a pdf file of them based on pictures (images) and thus could not be searched. I complained about this to a nameless, featureless email friend. And he made for me a database of pdf files with most of the Abilites which are searchable. I searched for "boom" and got to this (for the edification of future generations - of reseachers :-) ).

My point is this. Scientolipedia (and in fact Scientology itself) is the result of group work. Some are annonymous. Some like me and Dave are willing to have their names published. So if you want to contribute do not let shyness or fear (or any other emotion or reason) stop you. Find a "front man" who you can trust. And if you want searchable files of early Scn mags, let me know and I will put them in my dropbox so you can roam around in them. Email to: ant.phillips@post8.tele.dk

All the best,
